End Trafficking Now

Get Help
Each year there are thousands of cases of human trafficking in the United States alone, according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline Statistics. Trafficking is when someone uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against their will. Unfortunately, anyone could be trafficked, regardless of their age, race, gender, or sexuality.

API Legal Outreach takes a survivor-centered approach to providing holistic services to survivors of human trafficking. We seek to provide survivors with knowledge, representation, and support, with the understanding that our clients know what is the best course of action for their own experience.

“Today I am free ”

“Recently I’ve started my own business selling food and my own daycare. I remember what it is like to not be free and I cherish my freedom.”

Anti-Trafficking Collaborative of the Bay Area

The Anti-Trafficking Collaborative of the Bay Area (ATCBA) was started in 2003 by API Legal Outreach, Asian Women’s Shelter, and Narika after decades of partnership. The goal of the ATCBA is to help adults and youth take steps that will transform them from victims to survivors and thrivers after trafficking. Through this collaborative, including our newest partners Banteay Srei and Ruby’s Place, we provide culturally and linguistically appropriate, comprehensive legal and social services to survivors of human trafficking, regardless of gender, national origin, document status, race, or ethnicity.

“I paid a lot of money to come work in the United States on a legitimate work visa.”

“But when I arrived in the United States, instead of working at a resort in Florida, I was forced to provide caregiving in other states. I had to sleep on the couch in the lobby room and vacated patient beds, and my paycheck was deducted for my so-called debts.”

Immigration Remedies for Survivors of Trafficking

In 2000, the Trafficking Victims’ Protection Act (TVPA) was passed to recognize the crime of human trafficking and to create legal remedies for survivors of trafficking, such as T or U visas. Both T visas or U visas give survivors temporary immigration relief with a pathway to adjusting to legal permanent residency. API Legal Outreach provides holistic legal and social services to trafficking survivors seeking immigration assistance.
