Programs for Youth, by Youth
In 1997, API Legal Outreach began the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) to address gender-based and dating violence in API youth communities. Today API Legal Outreach’s Youth program seeks to address these issues, as well as others facing Bay Area APIs through presentations, media arts projects, advocacy campaigns, civic engagement, community organizing, and legal and social services.
Youth Advisory Council
YAC is a group of high school interns who collaborate to address issues impacting API communities.
Outreach and Education
API Legal Outreach works with local schools and universities to provide students with a variety of resources related to immigration and gender-based violence.
Legal and Social Services
Recognizing the lack of legal and social service options for youth, API Legal Outreach provides age-appropriate assistance in a variety of areas.
Youth Advisory Council
Since its inception in 1997, YAC has placed specific emphasis on preventing gender-based and teen dating violence in our work. Through presentations, media arts projects, advocacy campaigns, civic engagement, and community organizing, YAC members make change on community, statewide, and local levels. YAC members are interns of API Legal Outreach.
Outreach and Education
Youth Advisory Council interns and API Legal Outreach Youth Program staff conduct outreach on a variety of topics for youth and youth service providers. Topics of outreach include gender-based and dating violence prevention, LGBTQ rights and identities, immigration, and more.
